Sapa's stylish side
Sapa’s stylish side

This February I took a trip to Sapa as spring was just on the horizon and the peach trees were bursting into flower despite the last cold days of winter. As always, Sapa impressed me with its peaceful picturesque scenery. But this trip seemed different to my previous visits because not only did I fall in love with the breathtaking landscapes of North-West Vietnam, but I was also overwhelmed by the hotel that I stayed in: Hôtel de la Coupole – MGallery by Sofitel….
Located right in the heart of the town, the hotel evokes the elegance of days gone by, an enchanting mix of the architectural design inspired by the French Indochine era and local culture. This is a masterpiece from world-renowned architect Bill Bensley, and personally, I especially admired the way he “juggled” with colours. In the lobby, sets of turquoise furniture, lustrous red ceiling lights, vintage collectables and hill tribe accessories complimented perfectly for a truly authentic yet resplendent ambience. Besides from that, any fashionista would be delighted by the bakery – full of stylishly decorated cakes and chocolates in the shape of fashion pieces. We enjoyed a piece of cake, sipped sweet Red Fruit tea and relished our experience of a charming French lady in the 20th century. Any feelings of fatigue from our 6 hours of sitting in a car on the journey from Hanoi to Sapa quickly disappeared. Meanwhile, my little son, Bim, loved to enjoy himself in the hotel’s pine garden. A small tip for any parents who thrive for private moments, you could send your children to Kid’s Corner and be assured that they are in good hands.
Coming to the bedroom, I was amazed by its gorgeous Glam look and fully equipped high-class furnishings. After dinner, the whole family went swimming at the lavish Le Grand Bassin, before heading to the 10th floor to enjoy a signature cocktail and watching the stream of people in Sapa Square. To recharge my batteries the following morning, I chose to have a private breakfast in my room and enjoyed a croissant and a hot cup of coffee Alternatively you could savour the buffet at Chic, the luxurious French restaurant, serving a variety of local as well as international cuisine.
What a memorable trip with my beloved family. And you know what, I did not pay a thing for my room., Isn’t that great? All because I am an Accor Plus member, and this is one of the program’s attractive benefits. Thanks to Accor Plus, my family and I could enjoy the vacation to the fullest. Goodbye to Sapa, goodbye Hotel de la Coupole, we hope to see you soon!
