Visit Bangkok in May

The City of Angels (move over Los Angeles) is an exciting hive of activity with something to offer everyone. From elegant temples and palaces to a burgeoning bar scene and world-class fine dining, there is a reason that Bangkok is one of the most popular cities to visit in the world.

While the weather in the Thai capital is always hot and humid, May can be particularly warm, so its best to explore early and enjoy an afternoon dip in your pool.

Here are some of our must-see sites

  1. The Grand Palace

Remember to dress modestly – shoulders and knees should be covered. Get there early to avoid the crowds, check out the Ibis Styles Bangkok Khaosan Viengtai nearby for easy access

  2. Ride the khlongs (canals)

Explore the backwaters of Bangkok on the river taxis for a truly unique side of the city. One of the main waterways runs parallel to Sukhumvit road, making hotels like the Mercure Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 the perfect spot to start from.

  3. Visit the Golden Mount

Not just a peaceful and fascinating temple, but also one that offers excellent views of the city. This can be visited via the khlongs, or for the closed hotel, check out the Mercure Bangkok Siam and Ibis Bangkok Siam

  4. Eat!

A trip to Bangkok would not be complete without sampling as much Thai food as possible. You don’t have to go far in Bangkok to find excellent cuisine, here are all of our restaurants in Bangkok.

  5. Hit the markets

From Chatuchak to the many floating markets there are plenty of places to pick up a locally crafted souvenir to enjoy some local dishes. Head early to beat the heat and see them at their most vibrant. Pullman Bangkok King Power is conveniently located on the same train line as the Chatuchak weekend market.
